Baby Girl Born With Nose Like Elephant Trunk Worshiped As god In India
A new born baby girl in the city of Aligarh in Uttar Pradesh is garnering the attention world wide because she has what some describe as a “trunk” similar to Lord Ganesh – the son of Lord Shiva and Parvathi.
As a result, many worshipers of Ganesh now see the baby as a god of some sort and have gone to worship her, because they believe that the baby is the incarnation of Ganesh whereas, some others say that she is the wife of Ganesh.
The little girl was born last Thursday with a trunk like flesh protruding in between her two eyes. Her parents, Om Prakash and Sarvesh live in the city of Kothi Lankram and people are swarming to their house to see the“Lord Ganpathni” (wife of Ganpathi) with offerings.
The new born girl is the third child for the couple and though their baby is deformed they believe that she can bring luck to the family.
The baby\’s aunt, Rajani, said the people were not even shying from making offerings to the baby like they would in front of an idol.
\”My sister-in-law gave birth to a girl at 7:00 a.m. and her face looks exactly like Lord Ganesha. Everybody is saying she is an incarnation of the God. This is why whoever hears about her is coming here to get a glimpse of the baby and are making whatever offerings possible,\” said Rajani.
People haven\’t stopped coming in since the news of the birth of the \’divine\’ baby spread.
Women and children from the village sang songs and danced their hearts out to express their pleasure at the baby\’s birth.
Doctors however do not share the enthusiasm of those who see the \’trunk\’ as divine and have ascribed the protrusion is a result of gene mutation which can be caused by malnutrition and increased pollution levels.
According to doctors who treated the baby, her condition is caused due to some kind of gene mutation triggered due to malnutrition or increased levels of pollution. Doctors also confirmed that this deformity can be corrected if the baby survives the initial few days, reported The Hindustan Times.
Dr Jayant Sharma from Jeevan Hospital was quoted by The Times of India as saying, “A baby boy was born with a trunk some time back also. Unfortunately, he didn’t survive. But if this girl does, the family can go for corrective surgery.”
Even as doctors say that the condition of the baby girl is purely due to gene mutation that doesn’t keep people from worshiping her.
If the family chooses, they can go for a corrective surgery for the child at a later stage in life.
