Robert Lewandowski has lamented voting for Real Madrid forward, Cristiano Ronaldo ahead of his Bayern Munich team-mate Manuel Neuer for the 2014 Ballon d\’Or award.
The Bayern Munich forward, revealed he voted for Ronaldo as his first choice to win the award, while settling for Neuer and Bastian Schweinsteiger in second and third positions respectively.
Being the skipper of his national team, Lewandowski is obliged to vote for whom he thinks is his best player, however he told to a German newspaper Welt that he regrets voting for Ronaldo.
\”Voting for Ronaldo instead of Neuer was a mistake\” he said.
\”I would clearly vote for Neuer now if I had the chance. But I already cast my vote back in August or something. I would vote different now.
\”I am sorry for Manu. I am really surprised that he did not even come in second and the big gap to Ronaldo also baffles me. Manuel is an amazing goalkeeper and person.\’
