Yaya Toure defeats Vincent Enyeama to win African Player of the Year Award for the 4th time

Ivory Coast international Yaya Toure has been named the 2014 Glo/CAF African Footballer of the Year for a fourth successive time.

Toure defeated Nigerian international Vincent Enyeama and Gabon\’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to land the prize.

Enyeama had to settle for second position with Aubameyang finishing in third position.

Just last year, Toure defeated another Nigerian player, John Mikel to win the Player of the Year, and he repeated the feat by pipping Enyeama this time around.

The Manchester City midfielder now belongs to a league of select few of players who have the player of the year on more than one occasion.

Samuel Eto\’o is only the other African player to have won the award for four times, but he won three successively and one on a different occasion.

Toure\’s remarkable achievements in the English Premier League with Manchester City has not gone unnoticed, as he unarguably recorded an unprecedented feat by winning the award four times on the bounce.
